4 WAYS TO DISCONNECT WHILE STAYING CONNECTED -> TAKING A PAUSE FROM SOCIAL MEDIA!
Taking a necessary break from social media can do wonders for one’s mental health.
When self-care is discussed, social and emotional health is often excluded from the conversation. The self-care market often focuses on luxury and relaxation leaving social well-being out to dry.
Personally, I have found that taking a leave of absence from social media forums allows me to check-in with myself.
Stepping back from the endless platforms that are accessible at our fingertips can help release us from the stress of expectations and comparison.
I haven’t come across a person who hasn’t compared themselves to another social media platform. Whether it’s comparing the number of daily post they dish out, or the quality of their content. Everyone compares. It’s human nature. We beat ourselves up for doing too little or for not investing more time into the quality of post and engagement.
The biggest obstacle I have seen is for those who are running small businesses, like myself. We all know that when we don’t post, the silly algorithm treats us like an ugly stepchild when we return. We risk losing followers and engagement.
Sounds like being stuck between a rock and hard place, right?
If you are looking to take a quick breather from social media but feel like you can’t risk being absent, there are four things that could possible help!
- PLAN AHEAD – Mark your calendar and create a few post ahead of time. Doesn’t have to be a lot. In this situation, something is better than nothing. Post them and go!! This could be hard since it will limit your time of engagement with others but think of it as temporary.
- ASK SOMEONE YOU TRUST TO POST FOR YOU– It truly takes a village to survive this social media era!!
- USE A SCHEDULER FOR AUTOMATED POST – I’ve never used a scheduler but I see a lot of businesses doing it! Apparently there are apps out there that allows you to schedule post and will post for you!
- PAID ADS – If your budget allows, run one or a few ads. This keeps your presence floating around the platform. It’s not the same as posting to your page but the goal is to disconnect while trying to stay connected anyway possible.
The goal is to always strive to be your best self for YOU and for those you care about. Taking a step back from consuming endless content can help you connect back to yourself and focus on what’s most important.
